Weathertree Farm & Market
By Lily Spenceley

In May 2023, Mindy and Wes Flach established Weathertree Farm and Market in Hanover Township. The family has lived on the property for three years and wanted to create a space where local customers and the community could visit for a sense of belonging.
Weathertree Farm and Market is a certified organic farm that is known for their carrots, radishes, peppers, and freshly bagged salad mixes, which are harvested the day before they are sold. The farm also features hogs and 140 laying hens. The Flach family supports local businesses by including items for sale from nearby bakers, potters, beekeepers, pickle makers, and more.
Weathertree’s building is a beautifully renovated 100- year-old barn. The Flachs wanted the farm to be a relationship hub that allowed the family to grow food for themselves and the community. Wes and Mindy also wanted their kids to get to know the customers and the business. Together, the family has created a local space that is as much about connecting the community as it is about connecting to agriculture.
The farm’s name came from a local neighbor who has lived on Morman Road for the majority of her life. Wes was doing yard work with his neighbor one day when she jokingly said, “I hope you cut down the honeysuckle on the fence so I can see my weathertree,” referring to a tree on the Flach family’s property she had watched grow for many years and used to track the seasons over time. With the farm’s name cemented after their conversation, Wes says it’s a promise kept.
The Flach family looks forward to hosting events at their farm in the future, with plans for workshops for kids’ flower bouquet building and gardening. “Backyard gardening is really popular right now and we would love to help people get set up for success with it,” says Wes.
Weathertree Farm and Market’s busiest time of year is from May until November. They offer a 24/7 self-serve stand and are open Fridays from 3 to 6 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Plan to visit the family’s farm during their spring plant sale or in the fall for their colorful mums. You can also sign up for a subscription to receive weekly pre-bagged items hand-picked from the farm.
