Peak alerts will typically occur on the hottest and coldest days from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Peak alert does not mean load shed or rolling outages. Butler Rural Electric Cooperative's peak hours fluctuate throughout the year. These times make sense for most of us with busy lifestyles. However, being aware of when our individual homes use peak power and making a conscience effort to spread our usage over a longer timeframe can save our homes energy and money. Also, remember that each individual home uses electricity differently and can have peaks at different times.
Off Peak: 10 p.m. - 6 a.m.
On Peak: 6 a.m. - 10 p.m.
Critical Peak: June through September 2 p.m. - 6 p.m.

Once you determine your home’s electric use pattern, you will know your typical peak use hours and can make adjustments to become a more efficient user.
